Russ has a background in the food and beverage industry, but it was his drive to succeed that really endeared him to his business partner, Chris, and in 1996 Russ joined the then three-year-old Hot Rocks Creative Diner. “It was just an opportunity,” Russ says modestly. “The people part of it was my strength, and it’s Chris’s strength as well. We both are all about our customers.” Russ quickly proved to be an integral part of the business, and has been helping Chris make Hot Rocks a Whitby landmark ever since.
The popular spot is known for everything from burgers to pasta, but their wood-oven fired pizzas are definitely a customer favourite. Whether you prefer classic toppings like pepperoni and mushroom, or go for something more creative like duck confit or slow-roasted pork belly roulade, you won't be disappointed.

Ordered what I thought was a strange combo- pasta with pulled pork and jumbo shrimp($18). Very nice though. Since it was fairly quiet,service was prompt. Found the menu prices a bit high.I would try the restaraunt again.
Love the food and the restaurant. Good quality fine dining. Friday nights very busy so service is not as good. On the quieter nights the service is much better. Good pizza and gourmet food.
The food is always fantastic here. I am a regular at this place and I love it however, the food it always HOT and it's very fast but the waitressing service could be better. It's hit and miss who you get. A couple of the waitresses are great but most of them lack personality and rarely ever smile. What's with that.
Food is nice, a little greedy on the prices! Service is slow, they didn't have enough menus for our table. Staff is great! Hard to get a thick steak. We will come back. Thank you.
