We here a year ago, and thought it deserved a second trip. NOT! Service was awful, over one hour to get to the soup - which was cold. Nachos had lettuce, tomatoes etc, plus chili. It was iceberg lettuce - dripping and cold - which soaked the nachos, congealed the cheese, and cooled off the chili. Enchillada dinner not much better. Would have sent stuff back ... if only we could get the server. And.. live music so loud you could not have a conversation - interesting choice of music. Greek a la Mexico ???? Never again.
The food here is incredible and authentic. The owner is extremely friendly, accomodating, and helpful and has been for years, despite a recent loss in the family/restaurant.
I was surprised to find that many people had a bad experience with service. I have been to Cantina Mexicana about 4x since July and we've had great service each time. I found that the food was really good compared to many Mexican Restaurants I have gone to in Toronto. I found the quality to be much better. And to be honest the only Mexican restaurant I have been to that did not make me sick. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. There really isn't enough Mom & Pop's restaurants around that are worth going back to.

Our shrimp appetizer was freezer burned; we had to send it back. In fact, I was worried I would be sick after taking a bite and realizing it smelled rank. The owner is not as friendly as she used to be; rather curt. Unless something changes, I won't be going back.
